DIFFERENT TYPES OF VACUUM PUMPS
Vacuum forming is a great way to create lightweight durable products, but what type of pump should you use? A quick rundown on the different types and why we recommend our table-top vacuum press.
There are many vacuums in the market with varying qualities that range from very affordable options for home consumers all-the way up through industrial quality equipment used by companies who need heavy duty production capabilities such as injection molding machines or automotive parts producers.
Diaphragm Pumps
A diaphragm pump is a great choice for our thermoforming vacuum press, as they are very quiet and durable. This type of pump can only produce medium vacuums (about 83% or 3 inch Hg) but it does not use any oil which makes them environmentally friendly!
Vacuum Generators
Vacuum Generators are noisy and can create inconsistently high levels of vacuum. The venturi pump does all the wear on your air compressor, meaning it's not recommended if you have an expensive press because this type damage will be transferred too!
Oil Filled Rotary Vane Pumps (Recommended)
Oil Filled Rotary Vane Pumps are the best vacuum for any budget. These pumps run continuously, require no additional equipment and make it easy to work with when you're in a tough situation! They also create an excellent seal that will last through even long campaigns of use- which means they can take whatever abuse your machine throws at them without breaking down or leaking on anyone else's stuff.
Oil Filled Rotary Vane Pumps are the best choice for vacuum pumping, and we have designed our fittings specifically to work with them. Each press includes two of these pumps that can be easily converted into easy connect systems- just plug it in or purchase one of ours!
